LentSunday

Second Sunday of Lent

Sunday is the Lord’s Day, the weekly celebration of His Resurrection. Join the Church in the Eucharist and give the day to worship, fitting rest, and works of charity. Lent calls the Church to conversion through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, as she prepares for Easter. Walk with Mary toward the Cross. Ask her for true contrition, return faithfully to the sacraments, and offer one hidden sacrifice for the conversion of sinners.

Three are the means, as the Masters of the spiritual life say with Bellarmine: Jejunium, periculorum evitatio, & oratio — Fasting, the avoiding of dangers, and prayer. By fasting is understood mortification, especially of the eyes and of the palate.
