On the chastity of Mary
Three are the means, as the Masters of the spiritual life say with Bellarmine: Jejunium, periculorum evitatio, & oratio — Fasting, the avoiding of dangers, and prayer. By fasting is understood mortification, especially of the eyes and of the palate.
