The year beneath her mantle

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Rejoice with Saint Alphonsus in Mary’s heavenly glory and in the maternal love with which she continues to help us.

Enter the mystery

The dogma of the Assumption

Pius XII defined the Assumption in 1950: Mary, having completed her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.

Pius XII, Munificentissimus Deus, §44 (dogmatic definition)

The Mother who has not forgotten us

Let us rejoice then with Mary at the exalted Throne to which God has raised her in Heaven. And let us rejoice at it for ourselves too; for if our Mother has left us by her presence in ascending to Heaven, she has not left us in affection. Rather, being there nearer to and more united with God, she knows our miseries the more, and from there pities us the more, and can better succour us.

Saint Alphonsus Liguori, The Glories of Mary, Part II, Discourse VIII, On the Assumption of Mary (excerpt)

Contemplate with Mary

We rejoice in the immense glory with which the Lord has enriched you. Now that you already sit as Queen of Heaven and of Earth, ah, do not forget us your poor servants.

Saint Alphonsus Liguori, The Glories of Mary, Part II, Discourse VIII, On the Assumption of Mary (excerpt)

Pray with the saints

Grace of the Resurrection, descend into my soul and make it truly faithful.
