Our Lady at Tepeyac
The Church recalls Mary’s appearance to Saint Juan Diego at Tepeyac in 1531 and the place of Guadalupe in the evangelization of the Americas.
Saint John Paul II, Ecclesia in America, §11 (historical reference)
The Mother who loves the redeemed
And from this arises the other motive for which we are so greatly loved by Mary: because she sees that we are the price of the death of Jesus Christ. If a mother were to see a servant ransomed by a beloved son of hers at the cost of twenty years of prison and hardship, how greatly would she prize that servant for this reason alone?
Saint Alphonsus Liguori, The Glories of Mary, Part I, Chapter I, Mary’s love for us (excerpt)
Contemplate with Mary
O mother of mercy, you are full of charity towards all; do not forget my miseries. You already see them. Commend me to that God who denies you nothing. Obtain for me the grace to be able to imitate you in holy charity, both towards God and towards my neighbour. Amen.
Pray with the saints
We pray to You, Lord Jesus, by the fifteen mysteries of Your life, death, Passion, and glory, and the merits of Your holy Mother, to convert sinners, to aid the dying, to deliver the souls in purgatory, and to give us all Your grace to live well and die well, and Your glory to see You face to face and to love You throughout eternity. Amen.
