The memorial after Pentecost

The 2018 decree placed the memorial of Mary, Mother of the Church, in the General Roman Calendar on the Monday after Pentecost.

Decree of February 11, 2018 (calendar reference)

Mother of the whole Church

It is clear that the holy Virgin cooperated in an excellent and singular way in that formation. And in the same way it may be said that if she had brought forth Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church, without pain, she did not afterward bring forth without pain the Body of that Head. Hence on Calvary she began to be, in a particular way, the Mother of the whole Church.

Saint Alphonsus Liguori, The Glories of Mary, Notice to the Reader (excerpt)

Contemplate with Mary

This devotion consists, then, in giving oneself entirely to the Most Blessed Virgin, in order to be entirely Jesus Christ’s through her.

Saint Louis de Montfort, True Devotion to Mary, §121 (excerpt)

Pray with the saints

Permit me, then, to say to you: my mother, my most amiable mother. So I call you, and so I will always call you. You, after God, are to be always my hope, my refuge, and my love in this valley of tears.

St. Alphonsus de Liguori · The Glories of Mary · Mary Our Mother, prayer (excerpt)

Let love become an act

Pray the act of consecration to Jesus through Mary, remembering the needs of the Church.
