The Mother who brings grace
Now if these first fruits of the Redemption all passed through Mary, and she was the channel by which grace was communicated to the Baptist, the Holy Spirit to Elizabeth, the gift of Prophecy to Zachary, and so many other blessings to that house — which were the first graces we know to have been wrought on earth by the Word after his incarnation — it is most just to believe that God from that time had constituted Mary as the universal aqueduct, as St. Bernard calls her, through which thereafter all the other graces which the Lord wills to dispense to us should pass to us, according to what was said in Part I, Chapter V.
Contemplate with Mary
But if we also desire the happy visits of this Queen of heaven, it will help much that we too should often visit her in some Image of hers, or in some Church dedicated to her.
Hear the Fathers and Doctors
If you could hear the Virgin singing for joy, climb the hills with your Lady, and behold the tender embrace and greeting of the barren woman and the Virgin, where the little servant recognized the Lord, the herald the Judge, the voice the Word: I think you would then sweetly sing with the most blessed Virgin that sacred canticle, “My soul magnifies the Lord,” and, rejoicing with the little Prophet, adore the wondrous Child conceived in the Virgin.
Pray with the saints
O mother of mercy, you are full of charity towards all; do not forget my miseries. You already see them. Commend me to that God who denies you nothing. Obtain for me the grace to be able to imitate you in holy charity, both towards God and towards my neighbour. Amen.
