Keep January with the Church.
Begin with the sacred liturgy. On Mary’s days, let the feast continue in the Rosary, consecration, reparation, and imitation of her virtues.
SolemnityMarian
Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God the Octave Day of the Nativity of the Lord
The Church opens the civil year beneath Mary’s divine motherhood: Jesus is truly God and truly her Son, and she is truly Mother of God and Mother given to us in Him.

This year’s observance notes
The civil year crosses two liturgical years. Transfers and precedence below follow the official annual U.S. calendar.
- The Annunciation is transferred from Holy Week to Monday, April 5.
- The Ascension is shown on Sunday, May 9, as observed in most U.S. dioceses. The ecclesiastical provinces of Boston, Hartford, New York, Omaha, and Philadelphia observe it on Thursday, May 6.
- Our Lady of Guadalupe is omitted because December 12 is the Third Sunday of Advent; the USCCB permits suitable Marian honor within the Sunday celebration.

Read with the saints. The daily readings draw from Montfort’s True Devotion and The Secret of the Rosary, and St. Alphonsus’s The Glories of Mary. Each passage links to its place in the complete book.
Honor Mary in the mysteries her saints contemplate.
St. Alphonsus gives discourses for Mary’s feasts, meditations on her sorrows, and prayers that lead the reader to her. Montfort directs those consecrated to Jesus through Mary to honor the Incarnation especially on March 25. Read their words, make their prayers your own, and keep the feasts with the Church.
- Receive the mystery.Attend the Church’s liturgy and hear the Word with Mary’s faith.
- Contemplate with her.Pray the Rosary mystery or Marian prayer that opens the feast more deeply.
- Become what you celebrate.Imitate her fiat, purity, charity, sorrow, confidence, and total belonging to Jesus.
The calendar follows the Church’s own order.

The interactive view includes every day of 2026–2028: its principal observance, optional memorials, and a page with reading references, Marian prayer, and a faithful response.
